Reported Queens Park Rangers transfer target Scott Twine will not be making a move to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium this summer.

In a recent statement posted on the Milton Keynes Dons website, the League One club confirmed that they have captured the signing of the former Swindon Town attacking midfielder on a free transfer.

The 21-year-old, who was a reported target of Championship sides QPR, Luton Town, Reading and Bournemouth, will link up with Russell Martin’s side upon the expiry of his contract with the Robins at the end of June.

Warburton will be gutted

Considering just how impressive Twine was throughout his 2020/21 campaign, the fact that QPR have missed out on the signing of “one of the most exciting young talents” in the English Football League is sure to leave Mark Warburton gutted.

Indeed, over his 19 League Two appearances while on loan at Newport County in the first half of the season, he scored six goals, registered seven assists and created 12 big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 3.6 shots and making 1.9 key passes per game.

These returns saw the midfielder earn a remarkable average SofaScore match rating of 7.42, ranking him as Michael Flynn’s best performer in the fourth tier of English football.

Upon returning to Swindon in January, Twine then went on to score a further seven goals, provided three assists and created two big chances over his 25 League One fixtures, in addition to taking an average of 3.2 shots and making 0.7 key passes per game.

These metrics saw him earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 7.06 for the Robins, ranking him, once again, as the club’s best performer in the division.

As such, considering how easily Twine appeared to make the step up from League Two to League One, we would not have betted against him repeating the feat in the Championship if he were to have made a move to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium this summer.

However, with MK Dons landing the signing of the player Phil Brown claimed has “something special,” Warburton must now turn his attention elsewhere for additions to his QPR midfield in the upcoming transfer window.

Por fim, Ceni reuniu jogadores de meio de campo e ataque para um trabalho funcional de tabelas, enfiadas e, acima de tudo, finalizações. Houve espaço também para elogios. Lucas Fernandes, por exemplo, acertou tanto que o treinador mal precisou se preocupar. Wellington Nem veio logo abaixo, com Wesley na cola. Luiz Araújo alternava golaços com erros básicos nos outros fundamentos, o que resultou em algumas broncas mais duras. Entre os goleiros, Sidão foi o mais exaltado.

O São Paulo volta a treinar nesta quinta-feira no CT, às 9h30, mas com portões fechados – mesmo roteiro para sábado. Na sexta, o horário se repete, mas com atividade aberta e coletiva de Rogério Ceni. Já no domingo, também às 9h30 e com portões fechados, haverá jogo-treino no CFA Laudo Natel, em Cotia, contra os americanos do Columbus Crew, que fazem pré-temporada no local.

A fresh twist has emerged in the future of Chuks Aneke, regarding his current contract situation at Charlton.

Charlton boss Nigel Adkins has revealed that Chuks Aneke wants to sign a contract extension to remain at The Valley next season. Aneke is out of contract at the end of the month and Charlton are currently locked in discussions with the forward over a new deal.

TEAMtalk reported earlier this month that Aneke was gunning for a move to a Championship club on a free transfer, with Middlesbrough, QPR and Reading among those said to be interested in signing him.

Adkins has now confirmed that Aneke and the other players in talks with the club have told him that they would like to stay at Charlton beyond the end of the month. He told London News Online:

“We released three [players] and the others I wanted to stay at the football club.

“They have all said to me they want to stay, which is a big thing.”

“They and their agents are in negotiation with Steve Gallen, who is representing our football club in those negotiations and our budget.”

After a win over Wigan in March, former Charlton boss Lee Bowyer hailed the forward. He told London News Online:

“He was immense up there again today. He’s unplayable, on his day he’s unplayable. The only disappointing thing, if I’m him, is that he didn’t score more.

“To have that hunger and that aggression in the box, that hunger to score every time you get a chance. He could have had four today if he really wanted it but he got one and it’s won us the game. I’m really pleased for him, I thought he’s done really well.”

Fans will be relieved

Charlton fans will be relieved by this news as it was previously looking likely that Aneke would be departing the club this summer.

The aforementioned report made it sound as though Aneke was certain to leave Charlton and was pushing for a move to the second tier but Adkins’ comments appear to provide a twist to the tale with the forward keen to remain at the League One outfit.

Therefore, fans should be buzzing by this news and may be able to stop worrying about him leaving on a free transfer next month.

Aneke is a crucial player for Charlton after playing a key role in their 2020/21 League One campaign, albeit as the club just missed out on a play-off place. The former Arsenal man was Charlton’s top goalscorer with 15 League One strikes to his name, showing that he was their main source for goals, highlighting that his exit would be a massive blow.

The £5.4k-per-week star provided more than just his goalscoring. He averaged 3.4 aerial battles won per game, despite coming off the bench 27 times, which shows that he was a useful outlet for Charlton if they wanted to hit the ball long to alleviate pressure.

Aneke could hold the ball up and allow his teammates to come up the pitch and push higher up on the opposition to prevent themselves from getting boxed in. Therefore, Aneke staying at Charlton could be a gigantic boost for the club and fans will be delighted by this update from Adkins.

The Notts skipper took 12 from Devon Malcolm’s third over, with a straight drive followed by well–struck boundaries either side of the wicket.The pair raced past the 50 mark before Bicknell edged the bell on to his stumps from the bowling of James Ormond.Welton, in his first B & H match, grew in confidence and quality of strokeplay, and with Greg Blewett continuing his fine start to the campaign the run rate accelerated out of Leicestershire’s control. An update has emerged on Sunderland target Todd Kane, regarding QPR’s plans for him in this transfer window.

What’s the talk?

According to West London Sport, Sunderland target Todd Kane is set to be axed by Championship side QPR this summer. QPR are looking to land Sheffield Wednesday fullback Moses Odubajo as a replacement for Kane, as it would then allow the London-based club to cash in on the right-back.

The report claims that clubs are aware of Kane’s availability, although no offers have been made to QPR at the time of writing. Last month, London Football News reported that Sunderland were keen on a deal to land Kane, whilst their League One rivals Portsmouth and Charlton were also said to be interested.

QPR manager Mark Warburton was forced to remind Kane that he needs to respect his teammates after the defender claimed that he was better than Osman Kakay in an interview earlier this year. Warburton told West London Sport:

“I’m very aware of what was said. But what we speak about as a squad stays private. We’ll never disclose that.

“For me personally, amongst the squad and amongst the staff, respect is paramount.

“We’re in a very competitive business but it’s important to me that we all speak with respect.

Johnson won’t want him

Kristjaan Speakman must avoid making a grave error by ensuring that he does not make a move for Kane this summer, as Lee Johnson will not want him at the club. Kane is seemingly a disruptive influence behind the scenes and that could affect the harmony of Johnson’s squad, which could then impact the results on the pitch if it leads to tension and animosity between the players. As Warburton hinted, Kane did not respect his teammate, Kakay, and Sunderland can not allow that to happen at the Stadium of Light.

If Sunderland are going to mount a promotion push in League One next season they will need positive momentum to help take them over the line. Kane outing teammates in public does not suggest that he will bring a positive energy to the club and that is one reason as to why Speakman should be avoiding the former Chelsea man. Johnson will not want a player who could cause issues in the dressing room.

The £7k-per-week flop has also not done enough on the pitch to warrant a transfer. Kane averaged a disappointing WhoScored rating of 6.51 in the Championship across 28 appearances for QPR. This suggests that he is in bad form and would arrive at Sunderland on a low, rather than joining the club high on confidence and ready to hit the ground running. Therefore, for on and off the pitch reasons, Speakman must not make a move for Kane ahead of next season.
