Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has already bolstered his frontline with the additions of Ollie Watkins and now Bertrand Traore, but it appears he isn’t done just yet.

According to the Express & Star, the 49-year-old is still keen to add another forward to his ranks before next month’s transfer deadline with last summer’s club-record signing Wesley Moraes still on the treatment table.

The Midlands outfit have already splashed £28m on the Brentford striker whilst the former Chelsea winger has raked in around £19m as per the report, so it’s been another window of high-spending at Villa Park.

One name thought to be on their shortlist is relegated Bournemouth star Joshua King, who only returned to training at the Championship newcomers last week.

And Villa have been handed a boost in their pursuit to sign him after manager Jason Tindall claimed he wouldn’t stand in the 28-year-old’s way if an offer came in for him.

Speaking to the Bournemouth Echo, he said:

“I had a good chat with Kingy yesterday after training and Josh is very professional.

“He knows that unless something changes in terms of if the club do receive an offer that’s acceptable and he moves on, he will go with my best wishes because any player that can play at the highest level, especially when you come into the latter part of your career is a great thing.”

It’s previously been reported that King could be free to leave for around £15m, which could prove to be quite the bargain for Smith as he’s a very versatile forward who has consistently delivered in the Premier League.

King contributed to ten goals during a relegation campaign and hit a whopping 16 strikes alone in the 16/17 season, per WhoScored.

Ex-Cherries boss Eddie Howe lauded him as a “complete package” due to him being “outstanding physically, technically and mentally,” and that’s exactly what Villa would be getting.

He also tore Tyrone Mings, Bjorn Engels and Neil Taylor apart back in August 2019, bagging a goal whilst also notching two dribbles, eight duels won and two fouls conceded, via SofaScore.

King would be a very interesting addition at Villa Park.

Mino Raiola is working on completing a deal for Everton striker Moise Kean to join Juventus, reports Tuttosport (via Sport Witness).

He has scored two goals in that time, against Salford City and Fleetwood Town, but it doesn’t seem as though he is about to get a look in, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin having scored five goals in his first three Premier League games of the season.

This has led to the Italian youngster looking for a route out of Goodison Park, with a return to Juventus being the favoured option.

It is stated that the Serie A champions are only able to facilitate a loan deal at the moment, though that could include a clause leading to them buying him further down the line – Everton are supposedly not keen on the idea of the deal being a loan.

However, it seems as though any completed deal will come late in the window, as Juventus have more pressing matters they want to deal with first.

It seems as though Raiola may still have a lot of work to do in order to complete this deal.

Fulham were one of the most active teams in the country on international deadline day, and with just days to go in the domestic window it once again looks as though there will be a flurry of activity at Craven Cottage – and you can understand why.

The London outfit sit bottom of the Premier League after four games, and there is certainly room for improvement in a number of key areas. Luckily it seems as though the higher-ups at the club are well aware of these issues as the transfer links are coming thick and fast.

Here’s how we think Fulham may line-up after the domestic deadline.

Interestingly, we’ve tipped Fulham to stick with a back four for now, but with Scott Parker experimenting with a back five in recent weeks, don’t be too surprised to see that switch at some point.

The defence looks slightly different from what we have seen so far this season, but one thing that remains the same is Alphonse Areola retaining his spot between the sticks.

We have tipped Antonee Robinson to usurp Joe Bryan at left-back, while Terence Kongolo could take Tim Ream’s spot at centre-back after it was reported that he was having a medical.

Joachim Andersen links up with former Lyon teammate Kenny Tete to make up the rest of the back four.

The midfield pivot we’ve selected features Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa and Harrison Reed playing in the deeper roles, but don’t discount Mario Lemina, Tom Cairney or Jean-Michael Seri getting chances in the near future.

Going forward there’s a completely new look. We’ve tipped the Whites to land Said Benrahma after they were linked with a move by David Ornstein just hours before West Ham’s swoop was rumoured to be on the rocks, while Ademola Lookman and Ruben Loftus-Cheek also earn starting roles.

There are no prizes for guessing who starts up front as Aleksandar Mitrovic spearheads the attack.

Unfortunately, incomings aren’t the only thing expected at Craven Cottage in the coming days.

Indeed, there is no space in our team for either Michael Hector or Anthony Knockaert with QPR and Nottingham Forest both attempting to broker loan deals before the deadline, and we’re building our XI with those deals in mind.

Carlo Ancelotti has an easy decision to make in calling on Everton winger Alex Iwobi to stand in for Richarlison against Southampton this Sunday, with the Brazilian suspended.

Richarlison was shown a straight red card during last weekend’s Merseyside Derby for an over-the-top challenge on midfielder Thiago Alcantara, which added another injury to the Premier League champions’ squad after Virgil van Dijk was forced off early in the first half.

Ancelotti will now be without Richarlison for Everton’s upcoming Premier League meeting with Southampton this Sunday, along with the unbeaten Toffees’ fixtures against Newcastle and Manchester United.

Whoever performs well in place of Richarlison at St. Mary’s this weekend will stand the best hopes of retaining the position against the Toon and Red Devils, knowing that Everton will be far weaker without the Brazil international on the field.

Richarlison has only offered one goal in the Premier League thus far this season, but has provided the Blues’ highest number of successful dribbles (16), the second-most assists (two) and contributed the second-most shots (16) though only directing three on target, per WhoScored.

Iwobi should stand as a strong candidate to deputise for Richarlison against Southampton this weekend, despite Ancelotti only calling on the Nigerian to start one fixture across all competitions and earn the remainder of his 219 minutes through various cameo outings.

His sole start came in September’s 5-2 win over Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup, in which Iwobi scored and assisted while penning his only Premier League assist in October’s 4-2 win at home to Brighton.

Ancelotti called on Iwobi to enter the action in the 25th-minute against the Seagulls following an injury to Richarlison, and stated earlier in the year during Project Restart that he still has a great deal of confidence in the 24-year-old.

“I changed him against Tottenham because he had a little problem with his hamstring,” Ancelotti told The Guardian in July. “Against Southampton, I changed him to put more energy on that side and above all to change the system to a line of five.

“It is true he didn’t score, it’s true that he can do better sometimes, but it’s also true that I have a lot of confidence in him.”

Iwobi was later touted as one of several players whose futures were in doubt on Merseyside, with the Mirror suggesting he and teammate Moise Kean could head an exodus of outcasts should Director of Football Marcel Brands receive decent offers.

Everton signed Iwobi from Arsenal for an initial £28million just last year in a deal that could reach £34m, and was awarded a £50,000-per-week, five-year contract, but only featured nine times under Ancelotti following a hamstring injury sustained in December.

Ancelotti could now look to offer Iwobi his first start of the current Premier League season with Richarlison unavailable, given the Nigerian’s form in his substitute appearances only trails James Rodriguez for big chances created per 90 minutes.

Across Everton’s opening five Premier League matches, Rodriguez’s has averaged a team-high 1.07 big chances created per 90 to Iwobi’s 0.86 and Gylfi Sigurdsson’s 0.53. Richarlison, meanwhile, ranks just sixth with 0.23, and has offered a lower output for key balls than Iwobi with 0.94 to the Nigerian’s 1.71, per SofaScore.

Where Iwobi’s limited game time has hindered his output is in crosses with zero recorded to date, though he offered an accurate delivery with every one in four crosses in the top-flight last term while beating opposing players with 62% of his attempted dribbles.

Ancelotti will no doubt miss Richarlison in Everton’s next three games, but his absence will offer Iwobi a great opportunity to impress.
