كشفت “مينا بونينو” صديقة الدولي الأوروجوياني، فيدي فالفيردي، متوسط ميدان ريال مدريد، أنّ نجم النادي الملكي، لعب وهو يُعاني إصابة ضد ليفربول، بدوري أبطال أوروبا.

وكان التعادل السلبي قد حسم مواجهة ليفربول وريال مدريد، بإياب ربع نهائي الأبطال، وتمكن المرينجي من التأهل إلى نصف النهائي، مُستفيدًا من انتصاره ذهابًا بنتيجة 3-2 (طالع تقرير المباراة).

فالفيردي، شارك في المباراة كأساسي، مُنذ البداية وحتى صافرة النهاية، والأوروجوياني قدم أداءً مُبهرًا، رغم أنه لم يُشارك في مركزه، حيث خاض لاعب الوسط المباراة، أكثر من 75 دقيقة، في مركز الظهير الأيمن، في ظل إصابة داني كارفاخال وفاسكيز، وعدم جاهزية أودريوزولا.

فالفيردي، في مركز الظهير الأيمن، لم يخذل زيدان، ولا جماهير ريال مدريد، وكان رهانًا رابحًا بالفعل للمدرب الفرنسي، وبعد مُضي ما يقرب من 75 دقيقة، أعاده زيزو لوسط الميدان، ودفع بـ أودريوزولا، والأوروجوياني ظل يلعب بشكل جيد، وكل ذلك رغم أنه يُعاني من كدمة وإصابة قوية في القدم.

بونينو عبر حسابها الرسمي، بموقع التواصل الاجتماعي “تويتر”، كشفت عن إصابة فيدي، وكتبت مرفقة صورة لإصابة فالفيردي: “هذه الصورة كانت بعد ظهر اليوم”.

وأضافت: “أنا لم أرد نشر أي شيء إلا بعد المباراة، وبالتأكيد سيلومني لاحقا لأني نشرتها”.

وواصلت: “ولكن يتعين عليّ أنّ أفعل ذلك، لأنه مجهودك ولا أحد يمنحك أي شيء، يومًا بعد يومًا يُحفزك جهدك واليوم تثبت ذلك أكثر من أي وقت مضى، أنت فخرنا”.

رفض مُجددا المدرب الإسباني بيب جوارديولا، المدير الفني لنادي مانشستر سيتي، الحديث عن إمكانية تتويج فريقه بالرباعية هذا الموسم، وذلك خلال حديثه لوسائل الإعلام، قبل مباراة تشيلسي في نصف نهائي كأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي.

مانشستر سيتي يتصدر الدوري الإنجليزي، وأصبح قريبًا من التتويج باللقب، وتأهل لنصف نهائي دوري أبطال أوروبا، حيث سيواجه باريس سان جيرمان، وإلى نهائي كأس رابطة المُحترفين الإنجليزية حيث سيواجه توتنهام، وفي نصف نهائي كأس إنجلترا سيلعب ضد تشيلسي.

وعندما سُئل جوارديولا عما إذا كان يُفكر في التتويج بالرباعية هذا الموسم، أجاب: “انت تعرف ما هي إجابتي على هذا السؤال الجميل، نحن في وضعية لا تسمح لنا بالحديث كثيرًا عن ذلك”.

وأضاف: “لقد قلت أنكم تريدون الحديث عن المُستقبل، ولكن الواقع هو أننا سنتدرب اليوم وسنلعب المباراة غدًا، أي امر آخر لا يُهمني”.

وعن عقلية فريقه، وهل أصبح أقوى مُقارنةٍ بالموسم الماضي، أوضح: “كُنا دائمًا اقوياء من الناحية الذهنية ولكن الهامش في الأدوار الإقصائية في دوري الابطال ضئيل جدًا كل شيء قد يتغير ولكن الفريق هو نفسه والعقلية هي نفسها”.

وأتبع: “لا أريد الحُكم على موسم كامل من خلال نتيجة مباراة أو مباراتين، عندما يقاتل الفريق على جميع البطولات حتى آخر الأدوار النهائية، يحصل اللاعبون على احترامي وأهنئهم”.

وأكمل: “نحن لم نحصل على راحة كافية مُنذ الموسم الماضي، وانظر إلى ما قمنا به، بالتأكيد التأهل لنصف النهائي أمر رائع ولا يُمكننا إنكار إلى أي مدى كانت سعادة كل العاملين في الفريق بالتواجد في نصف نهائي دوري أبطال أوروبا”.

وأردف: “ولكن في بعض الأحيان عندما يكون الأمر صعبًا وتحتاج إلى وقت وتنفق الكثير للحصول على شيء ما، فهذا هو السبب في أنه لطيف للغاية، نحن نعلم مدى صعوبة الوصول إلى نصف النهائي ولهذا السبب السعادة كانت أعلى، كنا نرغب في الوصول إلى نصف النهائي من قبل لكننا كنا هناك في كل موسم وفي الموسم المقبل سنكون هناك في دوري الأبطال ونحاول مرة أخرى”.

وبسؤاله “هل ستكون مهمة تشيلسي أصعب بعد المباراة الكبيرة أمام دورتموند؟”، أجاب: “لا، ستكون أسهل بكثير، تخيل أننا لم نتأهل لنصف نهائي الأبطال، حينها سيكون الأمر أكثر صعوبة”.

وأتم تصريحاته قائلًا: “كنت أود أنّ أمضى المزيد من الأيام للاستمتاع بالتأهل والتعافي بشكل أفضل من أجل الاستعداد للمباراة، لكن هذا هو الجدول الزمني، وعندما تكون مُنافسًا في جميع المسابقات، يتدرب الرجال بشكل جيد، غدًا سنواجه أحد أفضل الفرق في أوروبا، سيحاولون تقديم أداء جيدًا من أجل الوصول إلى النهائي”.

Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher weren’t impressed by the England midfielder’s performance against Liverpool on Sunday and believe that it’s further damning evidence that the two-time PFA Young Player of the Year winner has seriously regressed as a player over the past couple of seasons.

From bossing the Premier League in his early years to barely featuring this season with just two Premier League starts so far, the 23-year-old looks half the player he once was.

“Very, very poor,” said Keane. “He’s a great example to a lot of footballers out there – you take your eye off the ball, you lose that hunger.”

“He’s lost that hunger – When you lose that hunger it’s hard to get it back,” he added.

“He needs to hear these words. He needs that spike because I think he can take it”, Neville responded.

“It’s not like he’s always had it put on a plate for him,” he added.

“He’s come from the lower leagues. He should never lose that hunger because of that, of that fight and that spirit, [but] he’s half the player.”

Tottenham have unilaterally struggled this season, having already lost six games in all competitions. But that isn’t for the want of trying on the part of some. Harry Kane still looks like they’re desperate to win and give it his all, instinctively diving on a rebound to give Spurs an early lead on Sunday. You just don’t get the same impression from watching Alli anymore.

Charlie Austin’s woes in front of goal continued, which won’t have helped their cause in either stalemate one bit. It’s now just the one goal in ten league appearances, which for a £4m summer signing is abysmal.

Meanwhile, Hal Robson-Kanu has doubled the former Southampton striker’s tally in just three matches – 70 minutes to be precise.

It’s time to hand the Welshman a start over his fellow 30-year-old, not just because he’s showing better form, but he’s also a better fit for the way Bilic wants his team to play.

The majority of Austin’s goals have been from inside the area throughout his career, per Understat’s xG model, yet much of the football under the 51-year-old is with the ball on the ground.

Albion rank third in the league for possession percentage per game at 54.5%, so the summer signing is having to drop deeper to claim the ball as seen in his WhoScored heatmap below from the Charlton game. He’s all over the place.

He doesn’t even look like scoring either. Robson-Kanu is currently building up some excellent form, so it is time to allow an opportunity to start.

The 30-year-old also records less unsuccessful touches (1.3) than Austin (1.9), which will only benefit Bilic’s system as they will retain possession of the ball rather than lose it.

And as the Express & Star explain in their post-match ratings from the QPR victory, Robson-Kanu’s movement is all that more impressive.

Austin is quickly becoming a flop at the Hawthorns, and this style of football just isn’t helping him at all.

Harry Kane has to start leading from the front for Tottenham Hotspur.

On the chalkboard

The England international endured a difficult performance as Spurs drew 1-1 with Sheffield United on Saturday.

The result leaves the club in the bottom half of the table, already 11 points behind both Chelsea and Leicester City.

Kane, of course, is perhaps Spurs’ best player. He is a world-class striker and his scoring rate is impeccable. He has netted 174 times in 268 outings. This season, in a campaign in which he has been noticeably off the pace, he has still scored 10 times in 15 games.

Yet, against the Blades, he went missing.

Kane did have two shots on goal but, per WhoScored, neither of them were on target.

He touched the ball 28 times, fewer than any other player to start the game. He attempted 17 passes but just 10 were accurate.

Kane did win six aerial duels but he did not win a tackle, nor he did not complete a dribble as he was dispossessed on three separate occasions.

By all accounts, that is a woeful performance, particularly from a player who is relied upon to provide the spark, the example which all of his team-mates follow.

A running theme

In each of the last four outings for Spurs, Kane has not completed more than 20 passes. Even still, he has never once had more than 75% passing accuracy in those games.

He has scored one goal in that time – against Liverpool, in the first minute – but against the Reds, Sheffield United, Watford and Brighton & Hove Albion, he has had a combined seven shots. Against Aston Villa on the opening day, he had eight.

Now, of course, Kane missed the clash with Everton due to a virus and perhaps that had sapped his energy, perhaps that was the reason for his slow, molasses-like performance.

But if it wasn’t medical – and the stats suggest that it wasn’t – one has to ask what on Earth has happened to him.

He has now gone two Premier League matches without making a tackle or an interception or a dribble.

By all accounts, he has been remarkably poor.

But there simply isn’t anyone else. Spurs let Fernando Llorente leave in the summer and they really have no other chance but to hope that Kane turns this around.

The numbers, though, paint a depressing picture for everyone associated with Tottenham.

وتحدث الرئيس التنفيذي لنادي بوروسيا دورتموند، هانز يواخيم فاتسكه، عن مستقبل هالاند وقال في تصريحات لشبكة “Sport 1” الألمانية: “لا أقرأ كل ما يُقال في الصحف”.

وتابع: “أعرف رايولا منذ فترة طويلة وتعاملنا جيدا، عليك أن تتقبل خصوصياته، لكنه يعرف أيضًا خصوصيات بوروسيا دورتموند وظهوره في وسائل الإعلام كل يوم لا يمثل مشكلة لنا على الإطلاق”.

وأضاف: “هالاند سيبقى في بوروسيا دورتموند بالموسم المقبل، فهو ملتزم تجاه الفريق ويعرف مدى أهمية وجوده، كما كان الحال مع ليفاندوفسكي وأثق في أن إيرلينج سيفعل ذلك أيضًا”.

Everton midfielder Tom Davies has spoken out on a recent quote from talkSPORT host Adrian Durham, who said he could be Everton’s answer to Steven Gerrard.

What did he say?

The talkSPORT host heaped almighty praise on the 22-year-old after Durham said: “He is Everton’s opportunity to produce their own Steven Gerrard.”

As you can imagine, Davies is flattered by the incredible comparison and he would love to do with Everton what Gerrard did for Liverpool. Despite being an Evertonian at heart, the Toffees man understands how great the former England star was for his city and suggested that he can also become an elite player in the future.

The England U21 international told talkSPORT: “Steven Gerrard was a quality player. To even be compared to him is just good to hear.

“I wouldn’t say I’m exactly the same as him. My main focus is improving my game.

“I feel like I can become a quality player. It’s about reaching the potential that I have. It’s in my hands to dictate that. In my head I know I can be a top quality player.

“Gerrard was a local lad. Around the city everyone knows him. If I can do that for Everton, that’s the idea. I’d love to do that.”

Already on the right path

Davies has now played 96 times for his boyhood club and has finally started to establish himself as one of Everton’s main men.

Davies underlined his growing importance to the side with a Man of the Match performance against Southampton, as Everton picked up their first away win of the season.

With his inspiring performances in the middle of the park, Davies will surely soon cement his place in Marco Silva’s starting XI and, potentially, begin to put himself on Gareth Southgate’s radar.

Right now, he is on the right path and has the right qualities to become a success in the Premier League, even if comparisons to Gerrard are premature.
