According to The Chronicle, Aston Villa could pursue a move for Newcastle’s Isaac Hayden if they get promoted.

What’s the word?

Since moving from Arsenal to the Magpies, Hayden has established himself as a fine Premier League midfielder.

This season in particular he’s been very impressive, becoming one of the mainstays in Rafa Benitez’s team.

However, per The Chronicle, he could now be on the move with Aston Villa considering an approach for the player should they get back into the top-flight.

The report states that Newcastle are likely to demand a fee of around £15m for the midfield man but there is set to be fierce competition for his signature.

Also interested are West Ham whilst Brighton also have a long term admiration for the player.

Hayden can bring extra physicality

Villa have a number of midfielders who are all extremely composed on the ball so Hayden would fit straight into the team in that regard.

Having come through the system at Arsenal he knows how to look after the ball whilst he also has a keen eye for a pass.

But it’s his physicality and ability in the air that can add something to the Villa midfield that they sorely miss.

In the Premier League this season, Hayden has won on an average 2.2 aerial duels per game. If you compare that to the numbers that some of Villa’s main midfield men have mustered this season they don’t even come close.

From Dean Smith’s regular options in the middle of the park, Glenn Whelan boasts the best aerial duels with just 1.2 won per game. John McGinn is next with 1.0 whilst Jack Grealish is down at a measly 0.8.

With this in mind, the potential signing of the 24-year-old would be game changing.

Of course, it depends on whether the Villans achieve promotion on Bank Holiday Monday, but signing Hayden would certainly be a shrewd move.

The former Arsenal man is proven in the Premier League and barely puts a foot wrong. It would be the ideal start to the window for Smith.

وتحدث ألونسو عن تياجو في رسالة لجماهير ليفربول للموقع الرسمي للاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم “يويفا، وقال: “لطالما أحببت مشاهدة ما يقوم به في المباريات، الطريقة التي يتواصل بها مع المهاجمين ومساهمته الدفاعية”.

وتابع: “ألكانتارا صديق رائع، لكن فوق ذلك، أصبح أحد أفضل لاعبي الوسط في العالم بسبب ذكاءه وإبداعه وشخصيته الممتعة التي يظهرها في التدريبات والمباريات وغرف اللاعبين”.

وأضاف: “تياجو شخص يحب كرة القدم وهذا ما ينعكس على شخصيته وأداءه في المباريات ويسهل من مهمته في التواصل مع زملاءه في الفريق”.

وأتم تصريحاته: “لقد فعل ذلك مع بايرن ميونخ، وأشعر أنه سيفعل ذلك بنفس الطريقة مع ليفربول وأنا أحب ذلك”.

There was a lot of expectation when Francis Jeffers arrived at Arsenal.

Having splashed out up to £10million on him in 2001 to sign him from Everton (Telegraph), many had been hoping the exciting English striker would be the man to help them fire the goals they needed at Highbury.

Arsene Wenger had certainly hoped he would be the centre-forward he needed and immediately seemed to put the knockers on him as soon as Jeffers arrived at the club.

“He is obsessed with scoring goals,” he told the Telegraph before adding “Some foreign strikers take longer to adapt to the Premiership, to the hardness you need in the box. He knows what it’s like, he knows what it takes to play away at Southampton and Newcastle.”

And, at the time, those comments would not have been misguided regarding the then-20-year-old as he had been making a big name for himself with Everton.

An England Under-21 international at the time, the Goodison Park man had thrived in front of goal as he had scored 20 goals in less than 40 starts.

But, his time in north London proved to be nothing but a disaster.

He was ravished by injuries during his time at Arsenal and failed to build any momentum and consistency, which limited him to just 22 appearances in three years between 2001 and 2004. He managed to score just four goals during his time under Wenger and was clearly not the ‘fox-in-the-box’ that the manager had hoped he would be (Telegraph).

Things did not get much better from then on either, as a loan spell with Everton did not help him rediscover his form before making a permanent switch to Charlton Athletic for a £2.6m fee (BBC); what a huge loss!

Jeffers failed to make an impact at The Valley and scored three Premier League goals in his first season, however, he joined Rangers on loan but didn’t trouble any opposition goalkeeper during the first half of the 2005 campaign. He was then released by the Addicks at the end of the 05/06 season and joined Blackburn Rovers.

But, as you guessed, he failed to get on the scoresheet for them in the top-flight and was sent to Ipswich Town where he netted four goals in nine games in the Championship. Staying in the division, the forward joined Sheffield Wednesday but managed to find the net just five times in 54 appearances across three seasons.

A year at Motherwell either side of two different spells in Australia with Newcastle Jets followed before time in Malta with Floriana. Jeffers eventually finished his career in League Two with Accrington Stanley. Who are they?!

Injuries troubled him wherever he went and it seemed he just completely forgot how to play football following his initial move to Arsenal.

For a player who holds the record for the most goals at the Under-21 international level for England, the fact that he had earned just one senior cap (in which he did score) probably just goes to show how bad things went for his career.

Manchester United fans across the globe took a collective sigh of relief, as a topsy-turvy season – fuelled by an array of drastically conflicting emotions – came to a close. It had everything, didn’t it? Yet, while fans were certainly not short of entertainment, their sanity and heart-rates took a rather severe beating. However, play time is over, and now the really fun stuff begins – the transfer window. 

Indeed, we all know it, United somewhat collapsed towards the end of the season, leaving them without Champions League football for next season. But that is perhaps their greatest strength. No matter what state the club is in, they are always a draw. They have the finances and the reputation to tempt just about anyone to the club.

So then, who are they to sign?

Many had hoped for a move for former City starlet Jadon Sancho, but the Daily Mail reported the potential deal was in ‘tatters’ after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

However, a story that has emerged this morning (as per the Independent) is that United have moved ahead of rivals Manchester City, Tottenham and Liverpool in the race for James Maddison. But how would the midfield dynamo fit into the team?

Firstly, it must be recognised that Maddison would represent an enigma in the squad. They simply have possessed nothing like him. Right now, only the 31-year-old Juan Mata would arguably be the closest fit, being a left-footed attacking midfielder. But with his contract set to expire, it seems desperately unlikely he will be there next season. An extension would hardly excite the fans, would it?

Additionally, Ander Herrera will no longer be at the club next season (as per BBC Sport), leaving United desperately short in midfield. Put simply, they categorically need reinforcements.

Maddison scored and assisted seven in a debut Premier League campaign with Leicester that caught the attention of the masses. The 22-year-old showed no signs that it was his first season in England’s top league. He has an eye for goal, loves to get on the ball and can see a pass from anywhere. No player in the league created more chances than the Leicester man, after all. Where United have often been stagnant and lacked creativity, Maddison would undoubtedly provide a well-needed spark.

After a series of terrific performances, the Englishman is now valued at £27m (as per TransferMarkt), but it would surely take a lot more to secure his services. In fact, it has been reported it would take closer to £60m to secure his services (as per the Independent).

Despite the hefty fee, it would more than worth it for a young English midfielder that would provide so much.

صحيفة “آس” الإسبانية، حسمت الأمور بالتأكيد على أن إدارة ريال مدريد لا تفكر في إقالة زيدان، وتجدد الثقة في المدرب الفرنسي، ولا يوجد أي شكوك حول مستقبله.

ويجتمع مجلس إدارة ريال مدريد بعد ظهر اليوم، لإقرار حسابات الموسم الماضي، وميزانية هذا الموسم، لكن اسم زيدان لم يظهر في جدول اجتماع اليوم، لثقة النادي في الفرنسي، ولا شكوك حول مستقبله.

بيريز يرى أن زيدان أنقذ ريال مدريد واستطاع أن يحقق دوري الأبطال في موسم لم يكن ريال مدريد يعتقد بأنهم سيحققون شيئًا بعد البداية الكارثية مع رفائيل بينيتيز، موسم 2015/2016.

وأشارت التقارير، إلى أن ريال مدريد يعتقد أن زيدان يستحق الاحترام لما أعطاه للنادي، وأن الإصابات الكثيرة سبب في النتائج، تحديدًا راموس وهازارد وفالفيردي وكارفخال، بالإضافة للغيابات بسبب فيروس كورونا.

ويتوقع بيريز وإدارة النادي الملكي، رد فعل من ريال مدريد في دوري الأبطال، واحتلال المركز الأول بالفوز في الجولة المقبلة، كما أن في الدوري الإسباني الأمر ليس سهلًا، لكن النادي سيكون قادرًا على تحقيق نتائج ممتازة.

يرغب الدولي البرازيلي، نيمار دا سيلفا، مهاجم باريس سان جيرمان، في اللعب مجددًا مع نجم برشلونة ليونيل ميسي، بعدما اجتمعا في البلوجرانا من قبل.

ولعب نيمار مع ميسي في برشلونة من 2014 حتى 2017، قبل أن ينتقل البرازيلي إلى باريس سان جيرمان.

With a host of domestic titles to his name, and a World Cup trophy from last year to boot too, Mbappe’s main target will be to chase down that elusive Champions League title for PSG.

The Parisiens came unstuck due to VAR interference in their clash against Manchester United at the Parc des Princes, and with Mbappe a year older and wiser, could feel next season might be their time to lift the big one.

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing AC Milan attacker Suso in this summer’s transfer window.

Suso enjoyed an impressive 2018-19 campaign for Milan – scoring eight times and providing nine assists in 41 games in all competitions.

A four-time Spain international, the attacker joined Milan from Liverpool in 2015, having spent five years with the Merseyside giants.

Suso made 21 first-team appearances for the Reds but it would be fair to say that he struggled to show his worth.

The Spaniard has certainly developed during his time in Italy, though, and Calciomercato have claimed that Tottenham are amongst the clubs interested in a summer swoop for the versatile attacker.

Spurs could certainly do with more options in the final third of the field.

However, some of the London club’s fans have urged their club to avoid a move for Suso ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
