Liverpool’s interest in Declan Rice should prompt West Ham to offer him a new deal

West Ham United should take Liverpool’s sudden interest in Declan Rice as a sign that the club should do everything they can to keep hold of him.

But that can only happen if they’re able to agree terms with the 19-year-old for an extended stay at the London Stadium.

According to the Express, the Hammers have a massive battle on their hands to keep some of their biggest names in the upcoming transfer window, while next summer could also be crucial if Manuel Pellegrini plans to continue his building phase at the club.

But the article reports that Liverpool have joined the race to secure the services Rice in Jurgen Klopp’s attempt to find the perfect defensive midfielder.  The interest of Liverpool, however, should indicate to the West Ham board just how valuable Rice has become that a title-challenging club like Liverpool have joined Arsenal and Manchester United to offer him a contract.

Being on a reported £3,500-a-week has obviously been a financial temptation to improve on for the Reds, given the consistent performances he has delivered for West Ham. It is believed that Rice rejected a new deal from the club that was worth £20,000-a-week, which, given that consistency he has shown on the pitch, is a bit ridiculous by the club.

West Ham spent more than a £100m in the summer but thought a deal of 20k-a-week would be enough to keep one of their best young players of the season at the club.

What the current negotiations between the two parties are remain unclear, but it would be an embarrassment for the club if they were to lose Rice to one of the three Premier League clubs because they couldn’t agree a reasonable fee for the midfielder.

The fact that these clubs would want to sign him up should have been an immediate trigger for West Ham to offer him what he wants and needs to stay put and form the heart of Pellegrini’s squad.

Oumar Niasse deserves chance to prove worth to Everton under Marco Silva

[ad_pod ]

The Liverpool Echo have reported that Everton manager Marco Silva has not ruled out the possibility that out-of-favour striker Oumar Niasse may have a chance to shine for the Toffees before the January transfer window.

What’s the word?

As per the aforementioned report, Silva stated that “we don’t know the future and Niasse is part of our squad. We have ahead a tough, tough month with a big number of matches, so the opportunity could come for each player.”

The in-form Richarlison is currently leading the line at Goodison Park, but with Cenk Tosun struggling to impress in English football, Niasse – who has barely featured in the Premier League this season – could get his chance.

The Playmaker FC squad decided to wind-up some unsuspecting Brazil fans at the Emirates on Saturday night. Watch the hilarious results in the video below…

The 28-year-old deserves an opportunity to impress, as when he has been called upon in the past he has regularly delivered. His league return of eight goals in 22 appearances last season is pretty impressive considering he started just ten of those games.

Before opting to cash in on the striker with a £7.2 million Transfermarkt valuation, the 9-cap Senegal international ought to be afforded the opportunity to stake his claim for more regular involvement on Merseyside.

Help for Richarlison

Silva has worked with Niasse before in their shared time at Hull City, and the striker was in good form at that time. It is clear, then, that the current Everton boss is capable of getting the best out of Niasse.

What’s more, with Richarlison’s preferred position actually being on the flank, the 21-year-old Brazilian himself could benefit from seeing Niasse get a spell up front in the starting XI.

Liverpool fans react as Klopp set to sign striker in 2019

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Liverpool fans have been reacting to a huge transfer story, as one insider has claimed the Reds will target a new centre forward next summer.

Roberto Firmino hasn’t quite been at his best this season, and it seems Jurgen Klopp is ready to give him some competition.

Despite Daniel Sturridge’s resurgence, the Reds don’t have a back-up for Firmino that works the system quite like the Brazilian, but reports suggest that is about to change.

Check out the video below to see how Brazil fans reacted to being asked how Cristiano Ronaldo would perform for them in a hilarious prank by Playmaker FC…

According to one Anfield insider, the Reds will “invest heavily” in a new striker at the end of the season.

Plenty of fans are firing their guesses for who this could be, with Red Bull Leipzig’s Timo Werner seemingly one of the favourites.

Whether this will mean moving Firmino back to the number ten position or replacing the 27 year-old completely is not yet clear, but the Reds’ number nine has just two goals in his last 15 games for club and country.

Felipe Anderson has proven to be a masterstroke signing this season and he could get better

West Ham United made a whole host of signings in the summer and although most of them have relatively struggled to adapt to life under Manuel Pellegrini, one has excelled and embraced the opportunity of playing in the Premier League.

And that is Felipe Anderson!

The 25-year-old’s performances this season might have been overlooked and overshadowed by some mediocre results for West Ham’s standards, but Saturday’s impressive showing at Newcastle United showed just what an excellent addition he’s been.

Anderson has started every single Premier League match under Pellegrini so far this season and has clearly been one of the main players in the manager’s books, while on the pitch he a revelation in the left-wing position.

His cheeky flick against Manchester United in September to open the scoring set the tone of the skilful footballer that he is, one who is able to be creative in attack and have the necessary attributes to keep opposition defenders guessing.

The way he got rid of Fabian Schar on Saturday to score West Ham’s third goal was an indication of that as the defender probably expected him to cut back inside, but instead the former Lazio player accelerated and took him on the outside by shrugging Schar off before unleashing the shot.

Going forward from deep he also took initiative and provided the likes of Javier Hernandez with good goal-scoring opportunities but poor efforts let the striker down.

Linking up with Marko Arnautovic is a combination on the left that Pellegrini might look to utilise for the remainder of the season as it is highly unlikely that Pellegrini would change his attack any time soon.

And apart from Arnautovic, who has been seen as the club’s only worthy scoring option this season, the manager should perhaps try and get Anderson more forward than he already is, despite being a winger that is excellent at tracking back.

He’s proven to be composed in front of goal and could be lethal when having two strikers in the middle which he could run off or play clever passes to.

Liverpool fans are delighted after Joe Gomez signs a new six-year contract

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool fans have reacted with delight after it was announced that Joe Gomez had officially signed a new six-year contract with the club, taking his stay at Anfield until at least the summer of 2024.

The Charlton academy graduate signed for the Reds for just £3.5m back in 2015, where he has since played over 50 games for the club, whilst also breaking into the England team under Gareth Southgate.

At 21 years of age, Gomez has been played out of position at right-back a lot throughout his Liverpool career, but has excelled alongside Virgil van Dijk at centre-half this season – Jurgen Klopp’s side have kept nine clean sheets in the 18 games that he has played.

He has quickly emerged as one of the Premier League’s best defenders, if the current campaign is anything to go by, and by tying him down to a new deal, Liverpool will keep Gomez at Anfield throughout his peak years.

Let’s take a look at how the Reds’ supporters reacted to the news…

Ethan Ampadu could ensure Dean Smith’s Aston Villa reach the Promised Land

Aston Villa came from behind twice to rescue a point at home to Stoke City at the weekend.

Surprisingly, the game remained goalless at half-time despite both teams creating a number of chances. It was the Potters who opened the scoring with Joe Allen beating John McGinn to the ball before firing past Orjan Nyland. Villa levelled through Tammy Abraham before Benik Afobe netted from the penalty spot. Five minutes from time, Jonathan Kodjia rescued a valuable point for Dean Smith’s men.

The result leaves Villa three points behind Middlesbrough in the play-off places. Smith will have the chance to shape the Villa squad for the first time since replacing Steve Bruce when the January transfer window opens in a few weeks time. A strong window could give the Villans the boost they need to secure a return to the Premier League finally.

One man who should be on Smith’s shortlist is Chelsea wonderkid – Ethan Ampadu. Valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt, the defender was snapped up by the Blues in Exeter City last summer for around £2.5m. The Welshman is widely regarded as the hottest prospect in the Blues academy and has been fast-tracked to the first-team under Maurizio Sarri.

The 18-year-old has failed to make an appearance for the senior side this season despite making his international debut for Wales under Chris Coleman. A loan move could do wonders for his development and Villa would be the perfect home. With Tammy Abraham enjoying a decent spell at the club so far, Chelsea could be tempted to send their talented defender to Villa Park as well.

Ampadu is a talented defender who excels with the ball at his feet – he could prove to be an inspired January addition and both parties would benefit from this move.

Arsenal fans blast Unai Emery for his substitutes and game management vs Brighton

Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to voice their anger over the way in which Unai Emery managed the 1-1 draw with Brighton on Boxing Day, after some of the Spaniard’s decisions were called into question.

Emery decided to take off Mesut Ozil at half-time after a quiet first half, but then saw his side fail to make a real goalscoring chance once the German had left the pitch. Additionally, with the score at 1-1, Emery also took off Alexandre Lacazette with half-an-hour left on the clock as Arsenal chased a goal – very strange to say the least.

The former Paris Saint-Germain boss has been praised for his subs and game management previously in the current campaign, but he got it all wrong at the Amex against Chris Hughton’s Seagulls.

Let’s take a look at some of the best tweets from the Gunners’ fanbase, who seem to be changing their opinions on Emery…

Wabhi Khazri could light up Turf Moor this winter

Signing an attacking midfielder should be a priority for Sean Dyche in the upcoming January transfer window.

There was a sense of optimism around Turf Moor after Burnley secured European football for the first time in 51 years last season. However, the Clarets crashed out of the Europa League in the qualifying rounds at the hands of Greek champions – Olympiacos. Fans will be concerned to see their poor form continuing in the Premier League with the club currently sat in the Premier League relegation zone.

Dyche will be desperate to bolster his ranks in the upcoming transfer window to help Burnley avoid a return to the Championship. The Clarets have struggled to get their forwards firing on all cylinders this season with Matej Vydra yet to find his feet in Lancashire. To bring the best out of their flailing strikers, Burnley must target a playmaker in the New Year.

A wonderful addition to the squad could be former Sunderland man – Wabhi Khazri. Valued at £12.6m by Transfermarkt, the midfielder joined the Black Cats back in 2016 and helped the club secure safety in his debut season. However, he was subsequently loaned back to Ligue 1 before completing a permanent deal to Saint Etienne in the summer following Sunderland’s fall from grace.

Once again, Khazri has been in fine form back in France, finding the back of the net eight times already this season, highlighting the threat he poses from midfield. The 27-year-old has also provided two assists for his team-mates and has averaged an impressive 2.3 key passes per game in Ligue 1 – his creativity would help Burnley steer away from danger (WhoScored). The Tunisia international is also a massive threat from set-pieces which would add another string to the Clarets’ bow in the New Year.

Giving Khazri a second chance to thrive in England could prove to be the catalyst for a revival in 2019.

Revealed: 74% of West Ham fans polled want club to rival Spurs for Max Aarons

West Ham fans have been voting and a clear majority want the Irons to rival Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Norwich ace Max Aarons.

The 18-year-old is having a stunning breakthrough season in the Championship, and is offering the promotion hopefuls a complete full-back by regularly winning possession and pushing onwards to support his side in attack.

Aarons’ superb performances and the fact that Norwich sold Josh Murphy and James Maddison ensures they can demand a large fee, with reports that Spurs will bid £15million in January.

Speculation by The Sun also suggests a January move may be possible, despite the East Anglian outfit having no urgent need for cash, if the right-back is immediately loaned back to the Premier League promotion hopefuls.

A recent poll on Football FanCast found that 74% of West Ham fans want their side to rival Spurs’ expected move with one of their own.

The Irons have two senior right-backs in their ranks at present, but Ryan Fredericks is yet to show he is capable of replacing Pablo Zabaleta when the Argentine leaves the club.

The Spurs youth product failed to progress at White Hart Lane and was sold to Bristol City in 2015, where he made just five appearances. He then got his career back on track at Fulham, but has since slipped back into the background upon his free transfer to West Ham in the summer.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles could be the surprise answer to Arsenal’s winger woes

[ad_pod ]

Arsenal cruised to a 3-0 win over League One side Blackpool in an FA Cup third round clash at Bloomfield Road on Saturday. 19-year-old academy product Joe Willock notched his first senior career brace whilst Alex Iwobi also found the back of the net to secure safe passage to the next round of the cup for the Gunners.

Willock was far from the only young prospect Unai Emery was able to afford precious game time to either. Eddie Nketiah and Ainsley Maitland-Niles were also in the starting XI, whilst Zech Medley and Bukayo Saka both featured from the bench.

Aside from Willock, Maitland-Niles in particular shone for the north Londoners.

Pl>ymaker FC believes Arsenal fans won’t have to wait long to see Unai Emery’s long-term ambitions for the club come to fruition. Watch the video below to find out why…

Already a well-established member of the squad, Maitland-Niles is yet to nail down a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium as his versatility has seen him instead used in various parts of the pitch as a utility option.

Whilst such a player is useful for any manager to have at his disposal, it is vital that the 21-year-old makes a single position his own soon, for the sake of his own development and career.

Against the Seasiders, the England under-21 international was deployed on the right-wing, despite having most often featured as a full-back this season.

However, the youngster impressed in his wide attacking berth, and was confident on the ball going forward. He ought to have had an assist on two occasions too when he set up simple chances for Nketiah in the early exchanges of the match.

He did, though, manage to record two key passes and two dribbles – as many as any other Arsenal player in both instances. He also excelled in performing his defensive duties, making five tackles and two interceptions – more than any of his teammates in both cases.

He’s far from the finished article as a winger, of course, and was caught in possession all too often. He also committed five unsuccessful touches, whilst his pass accuracy rating of 78 per cent left plenty of room for improvement. Overall, though, the signs that he might be able to flourish in this part of the pitch were encouraging.

The Gunners are understocked in the wide areas and may well seek to bolster their wing contingent in this January transfer window. Should no suitable targets come to fruition though, Maitland-Niles could prove a surprise internal solution to this issue, something that Emery already appears to recognise.
