New Zealand allrounder Amelia Kerr has made a prolific return to action, after taking time away from the game to manage her mental health, with consecutive five-wicket hauls over the weekend.Legspinner Kerr claimed 5 for 40 and 5 for 36 for Wellington in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield in what was her first competitive cricket since the ODI series against Australia in April.Since then she had opted out of the tour of England and also made herself unavailable for the WBBL where she would have played for Brisbane Heat.Having revealed she had been dealing with her mental health since last year, the continued need for biosecure restrictions and quarantine on return to New Zealand played a key part in Kerr’s decision to remain at home over the winter. She also broke her finger in May which prevented her from bowling for three months. She has credited working with her psychologist as a vital piece of the process.”It has been a saviour for me,” she told . “I think it’s a very scary thing going to see someone professionally about your mental health. You’re going to talk to a stranger about things that are uncomfortable to talk about. For me, it’s been the best thing possible to help me to where I am.”On the field over the weekend she helped Wellington to back-to-back victories. In the first game she claimed the key wicket of Amy Satterthwaite for 87 and in the second followed her haul with a top score of 41 in a tight run chase.Kerr, who made her international debut aged 16 and has played 82 times, will be a vital part of New Zealand’s squad for the ODI World Cup which they host next March. “I can’t wait to challenge ourselves and go against the best in the world and put on a show and express our skills,” she said. “It’s a dream to be able to play a World Cup at home.”

The Northern Irishman’s second stint in charge at Parkhead began in auspicious fashion, with the summer window in 2023 going down like a lead balloon.
Among those signed, Gustaf Lagerbielke has since been shipped on loan to FC Twente – with Hyeok-kyu Kwon also now at Hibernian – while Marco Tilio returned to Australia faster than you could blink.
Equally, both Maik Nawrocki and Odin Holm have still yet to settle after making just four appearances combined this term, while Luis Palma has also tumbled down the pecking order after starting just two games so far in 2024/25.
Those may be the negatives, but it has been a largely positive tale since then, with Kuhn arriving in January, before the likes of Kasper Schmeichel were added in the most recent window.
The experienced Dane – who was acquired on a free transfer – has since kept 11 clean sheets in just 18 outings in all competitions, while ahead of him, young loanee Alex Valle has slotted in smoothly, with three assists to his name already.
More will be expected of £9.5m man, Adam Idah, in attack, after a return of just five goals thus far, although in the midfield ranks, the Matt O’Riley void has been somewhat filled with the additions of Arne Engels, Paulo Bernardo and Luke McCowan.
One further capture that certainly raised a few eyebrows was that of Auston Trusty, but the former Sheffield United man is swiftly repaying his £6m transfer fee.

Celtic supporters may have been fearing a Lagerbielke or Nawrocki repeat when Trusty rocked up in Glasgow over the summer, with the centre-back ranks having endured something of a merry-go-round of late.

Early performances were hardly too inspiring either, with the United States international looking uncomfortable lining up in a right centre-back berth, in the absence of compatriot Cameron Carter-Vickers, having notably been part of the side that shipped seven away in Dortmund.
That said, ever since the heroic performance in Bergamo against Europa League holders, Atalanta – which pundit Frank McAvennie described as his “best game for Celtic” – the lanky left-footer has looked far more composed, having ousted the reliable Liam Scales as the starting partner to Carter-Vickers.
The Premiership may not always provide the strongest test, but Trusty has shown his class, and then some, on the Champions League stage, having also been “phenomenal” in the deserved 3-1 win over RB Leipzig earlier this month, as per Chris Sutton.
It is performances like that which have ensured that the one-time Arsenal man – who notably shackled a certain Benjamin Sesko when facing the Bundesliga side – now ranks as the top defensive centre-back outside of Europe’s top five leagues, as per the great minds at CIES Football Observatory.
Interestingly, that top ten list also includes Sporting CP sensation, Ousmane Diomande, with the Ivorian starlet placing just behind Trusty in third, having also dazzled in Portugal of late under Ruben Amorim’s watch.
Why is this important? Well, it is worth noting that Diomande – like Kuhn – is courting the attention of clubs across Europe, with the likes of Arsenal and Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur both chasing the 20-year-old, who boasts a £68m release clause in his contract.

Again, it is not as if the Old Firm side will – or should – be contemplating making a possible profit on Trusty so soon into his Parkhead stint, yet that comparison to Diomande illustrates the impact he is making in his new surroundings.
A £68m valuation is fanciful for the American machine, but what can be said is that perhaps the centre-back’s £6m fee no longer looks that hefty. Instead, if current performances are anything to go by, it could prove a bargain.

O técnico também aproveitou para falar da montagem do elenco e do alto número de jogadores jovens. Segundo ele, o ideal é que o time seja uma mescla de garotos da base e atletas mais experientes.
– O ideal é que a gente não tivesse tantos meninos ao mesmo tempo. O ideal é que eles ganhassem experiência aos poucos, tendo jogadores ao lado deles. Eu acho que isso faz parte do amadurecimento deles, tenho certeza que vão tirar grandes coisas desse jogo. São jogadores de grande potencial. Não é o processo idela que a gente acha, mas é aproveitar as oportunidades.

Durante a partida, Enderson se envolveu em uma confusão com a arbitragem e acabou sendo expulso. O professor, que já sofreu a penalidade na Série B em 2021, explicou o motivo de sua indignação e ressaltou a falta de critério da arbitragem do jogo.
– Nunca falei que isso nunca mais iria acontecer. Sou um ser humano, não falei nada com a arbitragem a partida toda mas em certo momento vejo uma total falta de critério. O que mais me irrita no futebol é a falta de critério. Anteriormente ao lance que eu reclamei teve uma situação muito parecida, que o Breno entrou com os dois pés e foi marcada falta. Não era lance para pênalti, mas era lance de jogo perigoso. Foi uma entrada imprudente, por mais que tenha pego só bola ele poderia ter quebrado a perna de um companheiro. A gente se preocupa com um lance desses.
Por fim, ele comentou as substituições do Botafogo e disse que não há tempo para lamentar a derrota. Ainda assim, Enderson chamou a responsabilidade do resultado para si.
– O resultado é com que faz que você possa tomar algumas decisões. Luiz Henrique é um jogador rápido, não é fácil marcá-lo e o Hugo foi bem no primeiro tempo. O fato dele começar a perder alguns duelos não faz dele um jogador que a gente tenha que tirar imediatamente. O que mais me preocupava era o cartão que ele tinha. A gente tinha que ter uma retenção de bola melhor na frente, por várias vezes perdemos bolas bobas. Não há sistema defensivo que suporte isso o jogo inteiro. Tivemos boas oportunidades para acalmar o jogo, mas vejo isso com naturalidade. O Abel fez o que tinha que fazer pra um time que estava perdendo o jogo, colocou uma equipe mais leve e funcionou. Não temos que ficar lamentando. Não é encontrar culpados na hora que perde. A responsabilidade é minha. Tenho uma estrutura aqui para nos ajudar e o que faltou foi tranquilidade.

Graeme Smith’s lawyer, David Becker, has raised concerns about the Social Justice and Nation-Building (SJN) report, which was released on Wednesday and found that Smith had engaged in prejudicial conduct. Becker, in a statement sent out on Thursday evening, questioned the process undertaken by the transformation ombudsman Dumisa Ntsebeza and said there are several “fundamental flaws” in the SJN process, which he and Smith participated in.Smith’s conduct as a player and as director of cricket (DOC) were both in the SJN proceedings, where he faced several allegations from, amongst others Thami Tsolekile. Smith responded to the allegations in a written affidavit but did not give oral testimony to the ombudsman. The final report found that Smith had unfairly discriminated against Tsolekile on the basis of race in 2012, that Smith, in his role as DOC had demonstrated racial bias toward black administrators at CSA, and that the process which led to Smith’s appointment as DOC in 2019 did not follow proper HR procedure.Related

Becker specifically questioned the last two findings, calling them “without any basis,” and providing a counter-argument.While the ombudsman report said that Smith’s refusal to work under former CSA CEO Thabang Moroe, who was sacked for misconduct last year, was evidence of racial bias, Becker pointed out that the “the ombudsman simply ignores the fact that Smith has worked quite happily and successfully under the current CSA Acting CEO Pholetsi Moseki for the last year. He has also worked collaboratively with three black CSA Presidents since being appointed in December 2019.”In terms of Smith’s employment relationship with CSA, Becker argued that although Smith was head-hunted, the process of appointing him was not irregular, as the ombudsman claimed.”As regards his appointment, Smith did not appoint himself,” the statement read. “The evidence clearly shows that his appointment was endorsed by the selection panel and approved by the entire CSA Board, CSA President Chris Nenzani, CFO Pholetsi Moseki, the Acting CEO, HR Head Chantal Moon, and Legal Officer & Company Secretary Welsh Gwaza.”Becker also questions why the report makes no definite findings and lists its outcomes as “tentative,” considering their seriousness.”For instance, how do you make far-reaching and public findings of racial prejudice against certain people and in the same breath say that they are ‘tentative’, as the ombudsman has done? How is CSA expected to implement those findings when the ombudsman has said, by his own admission, that he ‘cannot make definitive findings in an instance where the evidence of both the so-called victims and the alleged perpetrators was not tested’?”Several sources close to CSA and the SJN process told ESPNcricinfo that by labelling the findings “tentative,” the ombudsman has left CSA in a near-impossible position because it will be difficult for them to take action based on the report if it is not definite. However, insiders believe the ombudsman was wary of coming to conclusions which could be legally challenged in the courts.The SJN process was not a legal process and was inquisitorial in nature, which the ombudsman said did not allow him to cross-examine witnesses. Becker contended that was also incorrect and that cross-examination would have allowed the ombudsman to test the evidence more thoroughly. “The ombudsman had the opportunity to cross examine the witnesses under the Terms of Reference and didn’t take that opportunity. It was his process,” Becker said.CSA is aware of Becker’s statement but do not have a response at this time. “Mr Becker is entitled to raise his concerns. As a board, we are still in the process of dealing with the report,” Lawson Naidoo, CSA’s board chairperson, told ESPNcricinfo.Asked about the status of the relationship between Smith and the board, Naidoo said, “Graeme remains an employee of CSA and will be treated as such.”

استكمالا لموقفنا من الأزمة القانونية الجارية التي تضرب كرة القدم المصرية، يؤكد نادي بيراميدز أنه وطوال الأزمة الأخيرة المثارة بشأن انسحاب النادي الأهلي من مباراة الدوري أمام الزمالك، آثرنا التزام الصمت والاكتفاء بدور المتابع، خاصة وأن تطبيق اللوائح كان يتم بحزم وشفافية وبدون تمييز بين أي من الأطراف.
ولكن نتيجة لقرار مجلس رابطة الأندية المحترفة بالتراجع عن العقوبات التي تم اعتمادها مسبقا على النادي الأهلي وزاد أن دافع عنها أمام اللجنة الأولمبية المصرية لتحصينها وتأكيدها وتم رفض شكوى الأهلي، نود أن نؤكد على النقاط التالية:
أصبح نادي بيراميدز الآن طرفا أصيلا في هذه الأزمة بسبب الضرر المباشر الواقع عليه والذي يضر بالمنافسة الشريفة وتكافؤ الفرص.
إن ما اتخذته الرابطة من قرار بتغيير العقوبة يعد نموذجا صارخا لازدواجية المعايير في تطبيق اللوائح على أندية الدوري المصري خاصة وأننا أمام واقعة متكررة تم اتخاذ إجراءات سابقة فيها من نفس مجلس الرابطة وفقا للوائح الرابطة نفسها في العام الماضي ولكن الطرف الآخر كان نادي الزمالك.
وإذا كانت عقوبة الانسحاب التي أقرتها رابطة الأندية المحترفة على النادي الأهلي هي مجرد خسارة مباراة بثلاث نقاط فقط، فكان على رابطة الأندية أن تبلغنا بذلك حتى يتخذ بيراميدز قرارا هو الآخر ويحصل على الراحة المناسبة، طالما أن القضية كلها تتلخص في خسارة نقاط مباراة لا أكثر.
إن نادي بيراميدز حرصا على تحقيق مبدأ العدالة والشفافية والنزاهة التي تدعوا إليها جميع المواثيق الرياضية الدولية والمحلية وخاصة الميثاق الأولمبي وقانون ولائحة الاتحاد الدولي لكره القدم، فيفا، ولائحة الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم، سيقوم باتخاذ كافة الإجراءات القانونية داخل وخارج مصر، للحفاظ على حقه بصفة خاصة وحقوق الأندية المشاركة في الدوري المصري بشكل عام.
يؤكد نادي بيراميدز كونه أحد نماذج الأندية الاستثمارية المشاركة في الدوري المصري على احترامه للقواعد التنظيمية المعمول بها سواء من الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم أو رابطة الأندية المصرية المحترفة، ووزارة الشباب والرياضة، كما يؤكد أهمية الحفاظ على سمعة الدوري المصري أمام العالم والذي يتابع عن كثب الأزمة الأخيرة خاصة وأن النادي الأهلي المشارك في كأس العالم للأندية أحد أطراف الأزمة الأخيرة، الأمر الذي يدعو إلى اتخاذ إجراءات توضح للعالم أجمع احترام اللوائح والقوانين المنظمة للرياضة المصرية.
