William Carvalho keen to seal January move to West Ham

According to the Daily Mirror, William Carvalho and Slaven Bilic are keen to tie up a deal which would see the Portuguese international move to the London Stadium in January.

What’s the Story?

The 25-year-old was hours away from completing a move to the Hammers this summer before the deal was aborted on deadline day.

However it seems that the Sporting star has not given up hope of a move to the Premier League and could look to complete a deal once the window re-opens in January.

How good was Carvalho last season?

Since breaking into the Sporting team in 2013, William Carvalho has been one of the clubs most consistent performers and last season was no different.

The international, who is valued at £22.2million by Transfermarkt is a tall, strong midfield powerhouse, who is able to assist in both defensive and attacking areas.

A potential partnership between Carvalho and Kouyate at West Ham is bound to set fear into the hearts of the rest of the Premier League.

Is this deal likely to happen?

With Carvalho wanting out of Sporting and West Ham likely still keen on the Portuguese star, the only man in the way of a potential deal is Sporting’s President Bruno de Carvalho.

The 45-year-old threatened to report West Ham to FIFA over an alleged illegal approach for William Carvalho, whilst also condemning Hammer owners David Gold and David Sullivan for their approach to the whole transfer dealing.
